Executive & Scientific Committee

The Innovation 4.0 Network is managed by an executive and scientific committee whose members are: the Leaders 4.0 (professors) at the 8 Universities, a program manager (coordinator) and research advisors. Monthly meeting are held to discuss strategy, future joint training and research projects, joint proposals, etc. 

In addition, the Innovation 4.0 Network will have an industrial advisory board representing various business sectors, large and small companies, research consortia and associations.

Prof. Georges Abdul-Nour holds the Hydro Québec Chair in modeling and simulation of asset management and was the Head of the School of Engineering at UQTR. He is a member of CNIMI, the Centre national intégré du manufacturier intelligent with the goal to foster the transition to smart manufacturing. His expertise includes Industry 4.0, PLM, value added production system, predictive maintenance, design of experiment, continuous improvement, etc.

Prof. Luis Antonio De Santa-Eulalia is a founding member of the SC4 (Collaborative Research Network on Supply Chain 4.0), a collaborator of diverse research groups, including the CRISI (“Consortium de recherche en ingénierie des systèmes industriel 4.0, Laval) and the Poly-Industrie 4.0 lab. His is also co-director of the IntelliLab.org, a research group dedicated to the study of the Industry 4.0. His current research interests are related to emergent technologies and novel business models for innovative value chain management.

Prof. Jean-Marc Frayret is the Director of Poly-Industries 4.0 Lab. His research interests concern the design of decision support systems based on advanced modelling techniques such as agent-based models, operations research and data analysis, for the design and management of logistics systems in supply chains, manufacturing, healthcare, and industrial ecology. He has supervised over 150 undergraduate and graduate projects with the manufacturing and service industries.

Prof. Elaine Mosconi is an Associate Professor in Business Technology Management at the Université de Sherbrooke (UdeS), Business School, Department of Information Systems and Quantitative Methods. Elaine is head of IntelliLab, a research group on emerging digital technologies in the context of the 4th Industrial Revolution and of the Centre of Excellence for Innovative Manufacturing Companies. She collaborates with many multidisciplinary research groups, such as Collaborative Research Network on Supply Chain (SC4), Collaborative Robotics on Manufacturing (CoRoM), Innovation Network 4.0, Research Pole on Business Intelligence (PRISME) and the WAIM.Network (Work in age of intelligent machine). She holds a PhD in Information Systems from Université Laval, Canada, an MSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, B.Sc. in Information Science and Federal University of São Carlos, Brazil. She has worked as a researcher and consultant on knowledge management and information systems. Professor Elaine has coauthored papers published in peer-reviewed journals and selected conferences as AoM, HICSS and ECIS. She receive the Young Researcher Research Award for 2018-2019 at École de gestion de l’Université de Sherbrooke.

Over the last 15 years, he has led projects on artificial intelligence, operational research, simulation and optimization for industrial applications.

Professor Hany Moustapha holds two industrial chairs: the Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) Chair on multidisciplinary design and optimization of aero-engines (2011-2023) and the Siemens Chair on the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies (2018-2023). He championed the creation of the ÉTS Innovation 4.0 Hub (Nov. 2018), which regroups 55 professors and was appointed as its Director. From 2010 to 2018 he was Director of AEROETS. He has over 35 years of industrial experience with P&WC as Director of its technology, collaboration, and technical education programs.

Professor Mohamed Cheriet received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Pierre & Marie Curie (Paris VI) in 1985 and 1988 respectively. Since 1992, he has been a professor in the Systems Engineering department at the University of Quebec - École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS), Montreal, and was appointed full Professor there in 1998. Prof. Cheriet is the founder and director of Synchromedia Laboratory for multimedia communication in telepresence applications, since 1998.

 

Prof. Cheriet research has extensive experience in sustainable and empowered AI Future Networks and cloud computing. In addition, Dr. Cheriet is an expert in Computational Intelligence, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Perception. Dr. Cheriet has published more than 500 technical papers in the field and serves on the editorial boards of several renowned journals and international conferences. He held a 2013 Tier 1 Canada Research Chair on Sustainable and Smart Eco-Cloud, and lead the establishment of the first smart university campus in Canada, created as a hub for innovation and productivity at Montreal. Dr. Cheriet is the General Director of the FRQNT Strategic Cluster on the operationalization of sustainability development, CIRODD (2019-2026). He is the Administrative Director of the CFI’2020 CEOS Network. He is a 2016 Fellow of the International Association of Pattern Recognition (IAPR), a 2017 Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE), a 2018 Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC), and a 2019 Fellow of Engineers Canada (EC). Dr. Cheriet is the recipient of the 2016 IEEE J.M. Ham Outstanding Engineering Educator Award, the ÉTS Research Excellence prize in 2013, for his outstanding contribution in green ICT, cloud computing, and big data analytics research areas, and of the 2012 Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. He is a senior member of the IEEE, the founder and former Chair of the IEEE Montreal Chapter of Computational Intelligent Systems (CIS), and a Steering Committee Member of the IEEE Sustainable ICT Initiative, and the Chair of ICT Emissions Working Group. He published 5 patents (3 granted), and the first standard ever, IEEE 1922.2, on real-time calculation of ICT emissions, in April 2020, with his IEEE Emissions Working Group.

Prof. Soumaya Yacout is a full Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique  Montreal in Canada since 1999. She is the Scientific Director of the FCI-CÉOS Network, Director of the Physical Asset Integrity Management (PAIM) lab., Director of the Industrial Digital transformation (IDT) lab., member of the Institut de Valorisation des Données (IVADO), of Industry 4.0 Network, and of Industry 4.0 lab.  She is also the founder, President and CEO of DEXIN Inc., an enterprise dedicated in offering state of the art technologies for data-driven solutions to help companies in achieving the highest level of value added performance by keeping their physical assets in good health.  Her research interests include predictive and prescriptive maintenance of production equipment following fault and failure prognosis through monitoring and analysis of equipment condition indicators, static probabilistic and dynamic prediction of the Remaining useful Life of an equipment through monitoring and analysis of condition indicators, development of methods and tools to analyze, identify and effectively resolve the causes of non-conformities in production, root-cause analysis of non-conformities of final products through analysis of indicators of production conditions, real-time adjustment of production parameters through monitoring of indicators of production condition, and simulation with Deep Reinforcement Learning for adaptive and intelligent decision making in manufacturing systems. She has over 150 publications in peer-reviewed journals including Quality Engineering, International Journal of Production Research, Computers and Industrial Engineering, IEEE Transactions, Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, Expert Systems with Applications, and papers in international conferences, some of which received the best paper award.   She is the co-editor and the co-writer of a book ‘Current Themes in Engineering Technologies’ on minimal repair, and the book ‘Ontology Modeling in Physical Asset Integrity Management’ on interoperability and exchangeability of data. She is a senior member of the American Society for Quality ASQ, and the Canadian Operations Research Society CORS. She is a Registered Professional Engineer in Quebec. .
